Normally when you have a celebrity endorsement of a video game it doesn’t involve murdering your celebrities in the first 20 seconds of the commercial — but here we are.

Jimmy Butler of the Warriors and UFC star Paddy Pimblett joined Zac Efron and Morgan Wallen for a live-action commercial for Battlefield 6, and promptly got blown to smithereens shortly after being introduced.

The squad gets introduced to much fanfare before an RPG flies in and takes them all out. It’s unclear whose shoe flies directly at the camera, but it’s safe to assume they’re all gone. From there actors posing as troops quip about how the lost squad doesn’t even matter.

It’s a not-so-subtle jab at the Call of Duty franchise, which is releasing Black Ops 7 this fall season as well. Call of Duty is infamously known for making real-life celebrities as playable characters in the game, which jumped the shark this year when Seth Rogen, Jay and Silent Bob were added to the multiplayer roster — shortly followed by Beavis, Butthead, and the Ninja Turtles.

So by literally killing its own celebrities, Battlefield 6 is trying to point out how stupid it is to rely on marketing gimmicks like this in a serious game.
