Super Eagles forward, Kelechi Iheanacho has returned to Sevilla for pre-season training despite swirling doubts over his long-term future at the La Liga club.

The 28-year-old was spotted at the club’s training base this week, barely a month after completing a six-month loan stint at English Championship side Middlesbrough, where he managed one goal in 15 appearances.

Iheanacho joined Sevilla on a free transfer from Leicester City last summer, but has found opportunities hard to come by, making just 11 appearances and scoring three goals in a disappointing campaign for the Spanish team.

Sevilla only narrowly avoided relegation last season; an outcome that led to managerial changes.

With transfer rumours linking the Nigerian international to moves away from Spain, his early return to camp could be a sign of his desire to fight for a place under the club’s new manager, or perhaps a strategic move ahead of a potential transfer decision.

Iheanacho, whose contract runs until 2026, will be keen to rediscover his form ahead of the 2025/26 season, especially with eyes also on a possible Super Eagles first team return.
