Kerkez is set to become Liverpool’s third summer signing as the Reds have agreed a deal for the 21-year-old left back.

Liverpool have, officially, signed Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen, triggering the 24-year-old right back’s £30M release clause and signing the Dtuch international to replace the departed Trent Alexander-Arnold.

A second signing, the blockbuster £116M signing of attacker Florian Wirtz from Leverkusen, has been wrapped up and the official announcement is expected imminently.

Now, signing number three appears also to have been secured. Twenty-one-year-old Hungarian international left back Milos Kerkez is set to become Liverpool’s third signing of the 2025 summer window after the clubs agreed a £40M transfer fee.

As in the cases of Frimpong and Wirtz, it’s been clear this transfer was happening for some time now. In fact, in the case of Kerkez it’s seemed a certainty for months.

Kerkez was first linked seriously back in the autumn, and few players in memory have been as open or eager in the lead-in to their transfer to the club as Kerkez has been over the last month or two, with the player and his family regularly discussing the potential move.

It would have been a shock, then, had a deal not happened. Shocking things, though, do happen, and so it’s good to see this transfer in fact appears to have now been gotten across the line.
