The Asisat Oshoala Foundation will host a female secondary school debate competition on Wednesday, December 6.
The competition is slated for the Jibril Martins Memorial Grammar School Iponri, Lagos.
Tolu Adex will anchor the programme which will start at 10am.
The topic for the debate is; “should sports and education be given equal priority in the development of girls in Nigeria.”
The event is sponsored by Nike , sports kits manufacturing company , Women’s Win and asisat Oshoala Academy.
Winners will get cash prizes and scholarships through the Asisat Oshoala Foundation.
Over 20 schools in lagos state has registered for the competition.
The debate competition is part of the she plays project by the asisat oshoala academy, which enters the 6th edition.
Aside the debate competition Over 500 girls will participate and learn football, basketball and volleyball basics, mentorship sessions, life skills education many more.
The SHE Project is an all-encompassing initiative that provides Sports, Humanitarian and Educational programmes.
The Academy, owned by the Barcelona Femeni star, has carved a niche for itself in the Nigerian football environment, as it has continued to positively impact the life of girl-child in the country, both in sports and education.
The She Play project was organized in different schools and communities in 2022. This is the 5th edition of the SHE project and the first for season 2 of the AOA.
The Asisat Oshoala Academy has provided girls (ages 12 – 18) assess to 90 minutes of football training thrice a week.
The programme has complemented with life skills education covering a range of empowerment and rights-based topics.
Graduates from the academy will be encouraged to convert their leadership skills to impact their respective communities positively.
