Super Eagles striker Cyriel Dessers has expressed his disappointment following Feyenoord’s defeat to Roma, in the final of the inaugural Europa Conference League on Wednesday night.
Roma clinched their first ever European title thanks to a Nicolo Zaniolo’s 32nd minute strike.
Dessers was in action for the Dutch giants but could not help them to a first European title since 2002.

However, he emerged the first ever too scored of the newly formed competition with 10 goals.
And speaking after the final, Dessers stated that their mistake was ruthlessly punished by Roma.
“We did almost everything right in nineteen games and here in the final we made one mistake and that is immediately punished. This just hurts a lot,” he was quoted on voetbalkrant.com.
“They are ruthless. Even if the ball isn’t close, you’ll get elbows. They scratch and pull. Everything is allowed. Although I have to compliment ourselves, I don’t think we can blame ourselves much.”
And on being tightly marked by the Roma defenders Dessers added:“I was usually against three central defenders but after half time we got some space then we were immediately dangerous. Unfortunately the equalizer did not come.”
