From a name and statue perspective it doesn’t get much bigger than this for the opening match of a Champions League group stage. AC Milan and Liverpool have combined for 13 European Championships between them, but curiously this is their first competitive meeting outside of a final. It’s a tough match, in a tough group, but Liverpool have the chance to get off to a good start in front of the Anfield faithful. If Liverpool succeed in earning maximum points from their three home group stage fixtures, it’ll go a long way toward qualifying for the next round. So, let’s start that trend with a big three points tonight. Let’s make AC Milan’s first trip to Anfield a night to remember (for us).
