Former Nigerian international, Alloy Agu believes Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen who recently won the Africa Footballer of the Year Award, can lead the team to glory in the fast approaching 2023 African Cup Of Nations.
Osimhen’s momentous victory marks the end of a 23-year drought for Nigeria, the last African nation to claim the continent’s highest individual footballing honour. Legendary forward Kanu Nwankwo secured the award for Nigeria in 1999.
Osimhen’s triumph is the culmination of a remarkable year, solidifying his position as one of the world’s elite footballers. He faced stiff competition from fellow nominees, Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi and Egyptian icon Mohamed Salah, but his consistent brilliance ultimately outshone them both.
However, Agu in a chat with Completesports.com stated that Osimhen has what it takes to lead Nigeria to glory.

“It was a great one. A very laudable achievement from a Nigerian. It’s an award that was well deserved
“I think Osimhen has always been an outstanding player. whenever he plays you can always see the hunger in him to deliver. It is not a new thing but daily routine.
“This also means his daily routine has been rewarded. So he will continue in that daily routine which I know will lead the Super Eagles to glory in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.”
